Palava
The firm won the commission to design this regional training center after winning a closed competition on 2019. The site is located as a part of a commercial sector at Palava- a new township on mumbai's outskirts. The program includes training rooms, classrooms, guest rooms and an auditorium.
Within the linear site, the building program is oriented to take maximum advantage of views towards the sector's central green. From the roadside, the parking and services plant rooms are tucked away at this 'lower' ground level and this raises the ground level, which levels up with the landscape facing the sector green on other side.
The building section achieves clarity and separation of program connected by a common lift core. Green terraces at multiple levels fully replace the area covered under the building.
Rich texture of stone cladding on the lower levels and a serrated glass curtain wall façade on upper floors strikes balance between a futuristic building & a sense of permeance that is associated with a bank building.
All learning spaces have daylight and exterior views with Screens to cut off glare from east and west solar exposure.
The project aims at various firsts by aiming for a platinum green building rating as well as Health + wellbeing rating. The roof of the building has solar panels which offsets more than 10% of its energy requirements from on-site generation.
Multiple levels of green terraces and cascading planters along the auditorium edge adds an element of human scale and visual interest on the elevations. The building aims at the best in class green rating as well as wellness rating.
