Matunga
Conceived as a part of an overall masterplan, this is an Urban Design project. Residential projects like these, are a catalyst for building lively neighbourhoods by creating housing, active edges and enlivened pedestrian connections. Individual character, amenities, efficiency, and aesthetics are the cornerstones of success for these new communities.
Designed with careful consideration for lifestyle and cultural context, the project aims at being best in class for this location.
The architecture brings daylight and clean expression to each unit. Large decks in the living room of each unit, provide the relief for the occupants and vertical screens composed of thin fins screen off service areas like utility and kitchen zones in a contemporary way. In the larger units, separate service staff rooms on each level allow well serviced and hospitable living to be an easy possibility.
The massing of the residential project is modulated into multiple vertical stacks. The vertical lines of the composition are emphasised to create a distinctive profile for the project on the city skyline, while offering a rich urban experience at the pedestrian scale.
At the ground level the outer perimeter of the project is a lively and well landscaped retail street edge and the inner perimeter is porous and meets the landscape in a softer manner. Tucked away in the stilts here are amenities which spill over on the central green. The central green itself is family friendly open play area with lots of programmed landscape spaces working in sync and defined by the clubhouse frontage.
With no ugly parking podiums under the residential towers, the architecture creates a distinct impression and presence.
