In this issue of KA Connect, a quarterly snapshot of our practice, we are pleased to share two
projects which are close to our ethos & ideals. In our built works, we are sharing a landmark
project at Shapoorji Pallonji Infocity in Pune. As a part of this upcoming IT Park, our recently
finished building- Avanza, responds to the ambition of the client to provide a spacious,
landscape-centric, lively working environment. It is a premium Grade A office complex which is
integrated into its surrounding and projects a distinct identity through the articulation of its
form and facade.
On the boards features a commercial building which is going to be the new headquarters for
Bassein Co-operative Catholic Bank. BCCB started in 1918 as a modest financial institution deeply
rooted in the local community at Vasai and over a century, has grown into a financial organization
of scale and repute. Reflecting on this growth path, our approach has been sensitive to its
ancestry and aspirations. Their new offices are focused on interconnected spaces fostering
collaboration, liveability, sustainability, and a crisp contemporary language infused with
contextual references.
Our news section reflects how active this part of the year has been! Firstly, we are thrilled to
share our new website- with a fresh clean look providing a glimpse of the projects and the people
behind those projects at KA. Additionally, we would also like to share some of our internal
sessions, visits, deliberations, and celebrations! We hope you enjoy reading about it!

Situated in the northern suburb of Vasai, the Bassein Catholic Cooperative Bank is a historic
institution founded in 1918. The name Bassein comes from the British era, after undergoing many
variations before. Vasai has a proud heritage including a magnificent fort which lends a strong
sense of association to its roots & culture.

Compact Office Spaces
Pune
The Covid times brought into sharp focus the nature of 'work', work methods and works spaces.
Organisations around the world started re-evaluating some well established and well accepted norms
around the nature of a workplace and the need for one. The concept of remote working gained wider
currency and the idea of a decentralised workforce became acceptable.

Design Post Crit | Lodha Clariant
At KA, we believe that strategic thinking begins with critical analysis. This month we
took
the opportunity to spend a day at Lodha Clariant at Thane. We were a group of 30
ranging from
junior architects to directors, analysing one of our celebrated projects and
scrutinizing the
impact of design on actual functioning. It proved to be an engaging learning
experience with
the evening culminating with a vivid exchange of observations over a cup of coffee.

KArnival
We felt it was about time that we allowed the creative minds at KA to display their
hidden
talents. And so was conceived the idea of Karnival. A flea market and day of
festivities at KA
with family and friends where the creative minds of KA put up stalls with their wares
on
display and for purchase.

Kiran Kapadia speaks at FOAID
With his extensive experience in high-rise urban developments, Kiran Kapadia was an
invited
speaker at this year's FOAID conclave in Mumbai where he moderated a session on
Sustainability
in High Rise Age.

KRVIA Bridge Studio
With a desire to engage constructively with the student community and academia,
Kapadia
Associates has collaborated with Kamala Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute of Architecture
and
Environmental Sciences (KRVIA) to conduct the 5th year Design Studio on the subject of
high-density housing in an urban context. The KA team helmed by Kiran Kapadia,
includes Puneet
Anand and Ebrahim Sitabkhan. The trio have been on campus twice a week since June,
interacting
with and guiding the students on the fundamentals and nuances of housing and mixed-use
development. The studio has crossed the halfway mark and will conclude in the first
week of
October.

We are pleased to inform that our new KA website is now live. Showcasing from our
project
portfolio, over 70 projects across 9 categories, the new website is not only a
celebration of
the Projects, but also the People and the Process behind the projects. It is a peek
and a
small window into the life and work at KA. Hope you like it.

News_Sustainability SmallTalk
Focusing on Sustainability, we had invited Aun Abdullah from Lodha Group, to address
the
office and share Lodha's inspiring sustainability strategies and collaboration
efforts with
RMI. Aun presented their groundbreaking studies on our very own office project,
'Palava.' It
was an enlightening experience to witness their ambitious plans to achieve net-zero
emissions
at Lodha. To further boost this discussion, we exhibited panels of our projects with
studies &
sketches conducted by our dedicated sustainability consultants, as well as our
in-house
research. By bringing together architects, clients, and sustainability enthusiasts, we
aimed
to foster a meaningful dialogue around our shared cause.
