Connect January 2021

KA Connect is a quarterly snapshot of our practice: recently completed projects to ideas emerging from the studio and critical issues that concern us.

In this inaugural issue we are showcasing two recently completed projects- The Trees, a mid-rise residential development for Godrej Properties at Vikhroli, Mumbai and Savvy Swaraaj Sports Club in Ahmedabad. Both these projects demonstrate the diversity of our practice. We have also included our two projects which are in the process of design development, and an essay on our Workspaces Portfolio in the inaugural issue.

Architecture is not an individual task, it is the result of a complex team effort. We sincerely believe in collaboration and teamwork. This includes our growing list of clients who have had confidence in the firm and have nurtured our practice. Their vision, deep involvement and provocative criticism has helped us look at our work critically and mature as a firm. Our relationship with our clients is founded on responsiveness, responsibility, respect, fairness and patience. We have made a sincere effort to make these five qualities the essence of our firms culture.

The Trees

Godrej Properties, Vikhroli

The Trees is a flagship residential development in Vikhroli for Godrej Properties. This project spread across 6.7 acres comprising of apartments, community greens and convenient retail was completed and occupied in early 2020.

Savvy Swaraaj Sports Club

Savvy & Shree Siddhi Group, Ahmedabad

This sports facility is planned as an integral part of Savvy Swaraaj township located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. It has been conceived as a sports academy housing multiple indoor and outdoor sports built to international standards.

Work in Progress

The Shri Ram Universal School, NCP

Lodha Group, Mumbai

This school for 1200 students occupies a prominent corner of this master planned mixed use development. The school design distributes the program across two blocks, the east one for all the classrooms and the west for all common and
co-curricular program.

Pidilite Residences

Pidilite Industries Limited, Khandala

This project is a corporate training facility for Pidilite Industries located in the hilly terrain of Khandala. The program consists of residential rooms, training facilities and recreational spaces. The terrain and existing trees have been the guiding principles for the project with a strong emphasis on sustainability, low energy consumption and outdoor spaces.

News

Pelican Grove wins 7 awards at Asia Pacific Property Awards.

Pelican Grove, a luxury residential project in Bengaluru developed by Maia Estates and designed by Kapadia Associates won awards in multiple categories including Residential High Rise Architecture, Sustainability and Multiple Residences. The project is under construction and scheduled for completion by December 2020.

Godrej Rejuve awarded Innovative Project of the Year 2020 (West) at India Property Awards 2020.

This residential project of 8 lac sft comprises of 700 units is located at Keshavnagar, Pune is being developed by Godrej Properties and designed by Kapadia Associates. The project commenced construction in January 2020.

Kiran Kapadia runs Boston Virtual Marathon.

Kiran Kapadia is a passionate runner and was one of 26 qualifiers from India for the prestigious Boston Marathon 2020. However, due to Covid-19 the event was cancelled and held virtually in September 2020. Kiran ran the Boston Virtual Marathon on the streets of Mumbai on 12th September, 2020.
